Flight Disruptions 10th August- UK Security Alert

One of the first things that came to mind when I heard that they were forcing people to check on all luggage and not have any carry on luggage was Ryanair's policy of charging people to check bags on. They've really pushed people in to carry their luggage on-board (by increasing the amount you can carry on and by adding a charge for checking bags on). Aer Lingus have announced they are to follow suit.

I wonder if Ryanair were making people pay to check on their hand luggage today? (considering it costs even more if you pay at the airport...7 euro per bag instead of 4.5o euro per bag if declared online) It could give them a nice boost to their profits ;-)

If there is a long term move to dissallow hand luggage on flights then surely Ryanair and Aer Lingus (and other airlines) will have to reconsider charging people for checked on luggage.
